FSU offers new online Calculus Course for 2014-2015

The new online Calculus I (MAC 2311) and Calculus II (MAC 2312) courses are an alternative to the traditional class room lecture courses. The online courses cover the same materials, and yield the same credits as the traditional courses. Calculus I is offered this fall, Calculus II next spring.

Dr. Seppala is the the author of these courses, which use advanced learning analytics to offer individual support to students. Previously these courses have been offered at the University of Helsinki along with traditional courses. In all comparative studies, learning outcomes of the online courses have been better than those of the traditional courses.

Online courses allow you to study in a flexible way: at your own pace and in your own place. The web materials are comprehensive and available for free. Books are not required. Proctored examinations can be taken also outside of FSU Campus at other schools or libraries. It is, however, students responsibility to find a proctor to administer examinations off campus.

The development of the cutting edge learning analytics empowering these online courses has been supported by the National Science Foundation, Academy of Finland, and the European Union.

For information about how to register, see the Calculus Brochure.
