First, to students enrolled in MAC 1105 but are Undecided about their Major:

If you are undecided about your major, then you are strongly advised to wait until spring semester before taking a mathematics course. If you want to take some math this fall, then you should take MGF 1106 or MGF 1107. You should not take MAC 1105 if you really are unsure of your course of study. Please consult your advisor about this.

To MAC 1105 Students

Welcome to MAC 1105. We hope that you will find this course to be interesting and challenging.

We want you to be successful in this course and adequately prepared for your next mathematics course. However, as is always the case in any course, success is largely determined by the amount of effort that you put in to the course. If you consistently miss class and rarely do any homework, then it will be extremely difficult to pass. The obvious and reasonable acts of attending class and keeping up with the homework will almost always guarantee, at least some level of, success. FSU is an exciting place to study, especially in fall semester. Please don't let all of the extracurricular activities that are available distract you from your primary reason for being here.

Please take advantage of the resources that are available. Always do the Supplementary Homework Problems - we write them for a reason. Also, please take full advantage of the on-line practice problmes. Your tests and quizzes will be drawn from a similar bank of questions. The Math Help Center is another great resource. It is located in 110 MCH and instructors are available (free of charge) to help you. Take advantage of all these resources.

Best wishes to you this semester.
