objectives |
The purpose of this course is to give the student a knowledge of the
theory of calculus and of its usefulness in selected applications. The
student will be expected to be able to explain, using proper
terminology, the basic ideas of calculus and to solve computational
problems using good technique. |
|
attendance |
I strongly advise you to attend class regularly. A student absent from
class bears the full responsibility for all subject matter and
procedural information discussed in class. |
|
courtesy |
Generally, I expect you to get to class on time and not to leave class
until I have dismissed it. If you must leave class early, please let
me know before class begins. |
|
grading |
There will be four 100 point tests and a 200 point two part (100 points
each) final examination. There are two options available for
determining your course grade (on a scale of 0 to 500). Option 1: Add the four test grades and Part 1 of the final exam grade. Option 2: Replace the lowest of the first three test grades with Part 2 of the final exam grade, then add as in Option 1. The numerical grade will be converted to a letter grade according to the following cutoffs: A: 458; A-: 448; B+: 438; B: 408; B-: 398; C+: 388; C: 358; C-: 348; D: 300. |
