Where to Play SCRABBLE® in Tallahassee
Club Meetings: Wednesdays, 7 - 10 p.m., Optimist Park Clubhouse, 1810 S. East Indianhead Blvd.
Scrabble Night at Black Dog:
Fridays, 7 - 9 p.m., Black Dog Cafe, 229 Lake Ella Drive.
The Club Meetings are the official meetings of NSA club #575. We play according to NSA club rules, including clocks, 2-player games, and we use the OWL dictionary.
The Friday meetings are more social. The excellent Black Dog Cafe offers drink specials to Scrabblers, and here you might find multi-player games, no clocks, and lots of kibitzing. Players of all levels are welcome at either venue.
Contact director Michael Murphree,(850) 219-1223 for additional information.
History
It began sometime in early 2002 (I think) when the Black Dog cafe began "Scrabble Night" on Fridays. The core of what is now the official club met there and began taking the game seriously, but it wasn't until director-to-be Michael Murphree came along that we were able to get organized and form the club as recognized by the National Scrabble Association. Club #575 met for the first time officially on November 6, 2002. Three people attended.
