  <title>Modular forms and L-functions</title>
  <speaker>Amod Agashe (FSU)</speaker>
  <abstract>
    Modular forms are certain complex analytic functions on the
    complex upper half plane that have amazingly found
    applications in number theory, partly via functions
    associated to them on the complex plane called
    L-functions. In our talk, we will introduce modular forms,
    the L-functions associated to them, and their properties.
