A clarification of the first programming assignment has been posted. It clarifies an assumption or fixes a typographical error depending on you point of view. It also adds extra time to the due date.

Reminder: Midterm exam on 3/1/00 In-class, open textbook, open class notes. Material covered is all text reading material, notes, homework and class lectures through dealing with branch control hazards the first topic in the notes NOT covered is the discussion of exceptions.

In order to encourage participation in the annual programming contest (this saturday), the faculty often awards modest extra credit to student participants. I will therefore award a 1 percent increase in the final semster scores of such students. This amount is consistent with the level of extra credit awarded in other similar courses.
Current grades for program 1 have been posted. 250 is full credit with 50 points extra credit possible.

as announced in class there will be no more graded HW assignments, I will distribute questions and answers covering Chapter 9 lectures and the material in the text.

Note that the offset that is reported for each access is the byte offset of the reference within the line. Also note that the line size must be bigger than the largest operand requested in the trace, i.e., you cannot have a line size of 2 bytes and then request words.
