Title: The Weil pairing and identity based cryptography.

Speaker: Randy Heaton

Abstract: The Weil pairing is a bilinear function that maps pairs of points on an elliptic curve to an extension of the field over which the curve is defined. In the last 15 years, many applications have been discovered in cryptography, namely Identity based encryption: a public key encryption method that allows public keys to be specific desired strings of characters instead of random ones. This helps with storage and forgery concerns.
