14th Annual Financial Mathematics Conference: Poster Competition

Categories and Content

1- Each poster must be presented by graduate students part of FSU Financial Mathematics, either in the Msc curriculum or PhD track.
2- Each poster must be related to mathematics and their application to Finance. It must be suitable for public display in the context of the FSU Financial Mathematics Annual Conference.
3- Students may work as a team if they choose. A team should consist of no more than two.
4- To enter in the competition, compose an email to pgarreau@math.fsu.edu with the subject "14 Annual Conference Poster Competition" by Monday February the 13th. You should indicate in the email: First and last name(s) of student(s), Year, and curriculum, Title of Poster.

Presentation Guidelines

1- Posters will be displayed in the Hallway of the Love Building, 1st Floor and 2nd Floor on Friday February the 25th and Saturday the 26th.
2- Posters will be placed on a table must be able to stand erect by themselves or when leaned against a wall.
3- Posters must clearly display title and authors' names.
4- Credit must be given on the poster and a list of sources should be included.
5- Although not required, it is suggested that at least one student author be present during the competition in order to answer questions from interested observers.

Judging

Judging criteria are based solely on the content of the poster. The authors will not be present during the judging. Posters should be original and related to the field of research of participants. Of particular interest:
1- An innovative solution to a financial problem.
2- A creative application of mathematics to a real life financial problem.
3- A statistical analysis of financial data.
4- A new result.
5- An old result presented in a new way, and/or supported by simulations.

Prizes

1st place: $100
2nd place: $75
3rd place: $50
