Qualifier guidelines
General guidelines:
1. The student after taking the requisite coursework should
take the qualifier the first time it is given.
2. A qualifier in a given area will not be given again to a
student who has failed it twice.
3. Qualifiers are given in January and August before and
during the beginning of the semester. In special
circumstances they can be also given in May.
4. Students with advanced coursework prior to FSU are encouraged
to attempt appropriate qualifiers at entry; only passes are recorded.
