Introduction to theta Functions and Their Applications
In recent years there has been renewed interest in theta function theory.
In these talks we'll define theta functions, explain their basic
properties, and describe an easy approach that enables us to prove
certain identities between them using the residue theorem on the torus.
Later we will describe certain geometric applications of theta functions;
e.g, their applications to the theory of modular curves.
