PME. Pi Mu Epsilon is a national scholarly society in mathematics incorporated at Syracuse University in 1914 as a sequel to an earlier mathematics club. Established at Florida State University in 1956, also as a sequel, it was reactivated in 1994 after a dormant period and is listed in the FSU General Bulletin. Each chapter is designated by the state in which it is located and a Greek letter assigned chronologically based on the chapter charter order within the state. FSU is Florida Beta, and the University of Miami is Florida Alpha. Undergraduate and graduate students may become members based on national criteria for overall class ranking, mathematics credits, and grades. Members also hold leadership roles in the other four student organizations.
