Calculus II (MAC 2312, Sections 8 & 10)

The objective of this course is to introduce students to more advanced topics in calculus and their applications. We shall look into such issues as advanced integration methods and differential equations.

Text : Calculus, James Stewart, 5th Edition.

Course Content :Chapters 7-11 of text book.

Eligibility: : You must have a 'C-' or better in the prerequisite courses. Students with prior credit for college calculus may be required to reduce credit for MAC 2312. It is student's responsibility to check and prove eligibility.

Prerequisite: :You must have passed Calculus I (MAC 2311) with a 'C-' or better or have completed satisfactorily at least four hours of equivalent calculus courses.

Grading: :Grades will be based upon 3 tests during the term and the final exam. There will be occasional pop-quizzes also. The final total will be calculated according to the following formula: 3x(20%) Tests + (10%) Quizzes + (30%) Final Exam. The letter grades will be based on the following scheme: A:92-100, A-:90-92, B+: 88-90, B: 80-88, B-:78-80, C+: 75-78, C: 70-75, C-: 65:70, D:55-65, F: less than 55. The letter grades will be based upon the final total score of the student which may or may not be curved and is left to the instructors discretion. A grade of 'I' will not be given to avoid a grade 'F' or for additional study time. All exam schedules will be strictly adhered to.

Exam Policy: : No makeup exams will be given normally unless under extenuating circumstances. A missed test or quiz may be excused upon valid proof of absence. A valid missed test will be replaced by the final exam score and a valid missed quiz may be replaced with the score obtained from the next quiz. Please plan your activities and trips in such a way that it does not coincide with the tests. The dates for the exams are given below but the quizzes will be given at random, so please make sure to keep up your attendance. In case of any absences the student is responsible to obtain the notes for the class from a fellow classmate.

Homeworks: : Homework problems will be assigned but not graded. They meant to be practice problems for you for tests, quizzes and final exam. I will answer questions from homeworks on the test review days, during office hours and on certain other days during the semester, which be announced ahead of time in class so you may come prepared to ask questions. Here is a partial list of homework problems. There may be more problems added during the term. Please check the website regularly for updates.
