Mathematical Research at FSU
Biological Population Modeling
The biological population dynamics that are the focus of research at FSU cover a wide range of temporal and spatial scales. At the smallest spatial scale, research is performed at the cellular level by Nick Cogan and Harsh Jain. Cogan studies the formation of bacterial biofilms. These biofilms are protective for the bacteria, and make the population much more resistent to antibacterial agents than is the case for individual bacteria. Jain studies several forms of cancer, and the efficacy of therapies to the cancers.
