2. Set 13 will be covered in class. Set 14 will be summarized and is for your futher reading. You are not responsible for it this semester.

1. The presentation of the RK methods in Set 12 has been modified to enhance clarity. Use this modified version to prepare for Wednesday's lecture where I will review the explicit 2 stage methods before proceeding to the rest of the set.

1. In the lecture on Friday, I made a misleading statement about the Jacobian in Newton's method. To make sure there is no confusion, I will go over Newton's method applied to Backward Euler at the beginning of Monday's lecture.

1. Solutions for Study Homework Question Set 2 have been posted. The first question is relevant to the program assigned in Graded Homework 4.

3. There will be one more Graded Homework involving programming. This will be on adaptive composite Newton-Cotes quadrature. As with all topics, you are encouraged to start experimenting with those algorithms as we cover them in preparation for the last programming assignment.

4. Minor typo fixed on slide 19 of Set 8 in the error derivation for Simpson's first rule (the coefficient of the first derivative term). It did not matter to the result since the term is removed upon integration.

1. The relationship of ∆f0 and ∆2f0 with f[x0,x1] and f[x0,x1, x2] has been added for clarification on slide 16 in Set 8.

2. The rules for the Midterm Exam have been posted. Note in particular the manner in which the exam will be distributed and the rules on using a specific set of reference notes you may prepare.
