Exam Information


4/16/21

1. The alternate Final Exam session will be Tuesday April 20, 2021 from 7AM to 9AM on zoom. This is for students outside the Eastern time zone or with other reasons that make the normal session not tenable. Those intending to attend the alternate exam session should inform me immediately by email.

4/5/21

1. The Final Exam is comprehensive and will take place at the time scheduled on the Registrar's Exam schedule, Tuesday April 20,2021, 10:00AM - 12:00PM. A zoom session will be added to the class canvas page. Anyone that has scheduling difficulties with this time should contact me immediately.

3/29/21

1. Exam 2 will take place Thursday April 8, 2021 6:30PM - 8:30PM. The same rules as used for Exam 1 apply.

2. Exam 2 for those outside the Eastern time zone will take place Thursday April 8, 2021, 8:30AM - 10:30AM.

3. Exam 2 covers Set 5 through Set 9 and all associated material.

2/23/21

1. Exam 1 for those outside the Eastern time zone will take place Thursday March 4, 2021 8:30AM - 10:30AM.

2/22/21

1. Exam 1 will take place Thursday March 4, 2021 6:30PM - 8:30PM. The same rules as last semester, listed below as well, apply.

2. An alternate time will be announced for those not in the Eastern time zone.

2/17/21

1. An announcement has been sent in canvas proposing a delay the date of Exam 1 and setting up two study sessions next week. Please read and send a response to kgallivan@fsu.edu A response is required so I can confirm that there is general support for the updated plan in order to make the changes.

2/16/21

1. Exam 1 will cover the material from Runge-Kutta to the discussion of pivoting in LU factorization including the characterizatio of partial and complete pivoting as a factorization.

1. For those that are able to take the exam based on the Eastern time zone, it is proposed to hold Exam 1 with remote supervision on zoom Thursday 25 February 2021 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.

2. Those in time zones that make the above time impossible should notify me by email as soon as possible and an alternate time will be arranged.

3. Exam 1 is a closed book exam. You may not use class notes, homework solutions or any other reference material. A simple graphing calculator is permitted. Electronic devices with network connectivity or sufficient storage capacity to contain notes or other reference material are not permitted.

4. You may prepare and use 2, 8 inch by 11 inch, sheets of paper with handwritten notes only on both sides of each sheet. Any attempt to use any other reference material other than the two pieces of paper will result in a failing grade on the exam.
