Required Text: J.W. Brown and R.V. Churchill, Complex Variables and Applications, 8th edition McGraw-Hill, 2009

Eligibility: You must have completed MAC 2313 (Calc III) with a grade of C- or better.

Objectives: This course will introduce students to the basic concepts of the theory of calculus over the complex numbers. Topics include: the geometry of elementary complex functions, complex path integrals and Cauchy's theorem, and applications of the Residue Theorem.

Homework and Quizzes: Homework will be assigned daily. They are not to be turned in, but will be discussed in the beginning of the following class period.

Exams: There will be two midterm examinations, and a final examination on Monday, Dec. 10, 10am-12pm.

Grades: Grades will be based on quizzes (Q), two midterm exams (M), and a cummulative final exam (F). The final grade will be the maximum of
.2*Q + .4*M + .4*F,
and
.2*Q + .2*M + .6*F.
