Title: Amenable Cats

Abstract: Work by Gromov and Perelman implies that a closed, prime, orientable 3-manifold M that is covered by three open amenable sets is a graph manifold. We give a classification of all closed 3-manifolds that can be covered by one or two or three open amenable or solvable sets. This is joint work with J.C.Gomez-Larranaga and F. Gonzales-Acuna.
