Fall 2025 Math Grad Classes
Last updated 05/11/2025
Grad classes can be divided into 3 categories: regular 3-credit hour classes, seminars, and DIS/dissertation hour classes. For most faculty, the first two categories will be relevant. Students usually work with Elizabeth and their advisors to determine what in the DIS category is relevant.
If the class you are teaching is not a qualifier exam, then you are responsible for advertising your class and recruiting students.
Grad students have to fill out their grid by mid-July (typically July 14). The "grid" is an internal web interface where grad students tell us what courses will be taking. The Graduate TA Coordinator uses this information to create TA assignments. After this date, students can only change their course selections if it does not interfere with their TA assignments. This means you have between now and mid-July to recruit students for your classes. Department policy is that all grad classes and seminars must have a minimum of 5 students registered to receive teaching credit.
