SOFTWARE

Software which I have developed is available for checking the topology of triangulated surfaces. Topological errors are corrected automatically whenever possible in order to create a surface that is topologically equivalent to a sphere or a disc. This software, called TopoCV (Topology Checker and Viewer) can be run from the command line, or with a graphical user interface to visualize and interact with surfaces.

The command line version of the software runs on Linux, SGI, SUN and AIX platforms. The Viewer portion of the software runs on Linux and requires VTK (Visualization ToolKit) and Tcl/Tk. Both of these packages are freely available.

This software is designed to work in conjunction with the conformal flat mapping software, CirclePack, developed by Ken Stephenson in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Please visit Ken's website for information on downloading CirclePack.

In order to download TopoCV, a simple registration form needs to be filled out. This form is used to gather statistics for reporting purposes on how many people are interested in this software.

Click here to register and download TopoCV.

For questions, comments or collaboration regarding this software, please email the author, Monica K. Hurdal. The author is intersted in writing additional modules for this softare and processing other file formats if you are interested in collaborating.

This software is currently under development. Please come back often for updates. This software is intended for research purposes. Development of this software has been partially funded by NSF grant DMS-0101329 and NIH grant P20 EB02013.
