Abstract.
The speaker will describe some of his experiences implementing advanced
mathematical signal processing techniques into the professional entertainment
industry over the past 35 years. Dr. Moorer has worked at Lucasfilm, Pixar,
Sonic Solutions, and is now part of the Dynamic Media division of Adobe
Systems. His contributions to the industry have included the development of
the digital audio workstation starting with "Return of the Jedi", noise
reduction techniques first used in the film "Amadeus" and subsequently
used to restore thousands of vintage recordings, and generally including
advances in analysis and processing of audio that have become commonplace
in both the professional and consumer entertainment industry today. This
