Augustus DeMorgan

Augustus DeMorgan (1806-1871) was an English mathematician born in India, where his father was a colonial official. He gravitated toward intellectual pursuits in part as a result of a boyhood injury that left him blind in one eye. DeMorgan made contributions to many areas of mathematics, including logic and probability theory. He also wrote mathematical verse, including:
Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite 'em,
And little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum.
And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on;
While these again have greater still, and greater still, and so on.
