Core faculty have expertise in a wide range of related topics, and our graduates compete successfully for internships and jobs after graduation. - The flexible MS degree may be earned as a terminal degree or en route to the PhD. The MS degree offers two tracks, one in financial engineering, and one in Actuarial Science. The Financial Mathematics MS degree carries the PSM designation.
The FSU Financial Mathematics major was established in 1998 in the Department of Mathematics, with the cooperation of faculty from Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Statistics, and Computer Science. In 2002 a formal PhD degree in the Financial Mathematics major was approved, with our first PhD granted in 2004. The department is committed to recruiting talented students and hiring world-class faculty to support the program.
