The FSU undergraduate mathematics program is designed to prepare students for mathematics related jobs in industry, finance, government and academia. To accommodate the diverse interests of students, the department offers five majors for the bachelors degree:
The department also offers a joint BS/MS option giving students additional preparation before taking the next step to graduate school or a profession.
The mathematics research faculty at FSU has expertise in a broad range of topics in the traditional areas of pure and applied mathematics, as well as in the interdisciplinary areas of biomathematics and financial mathematics. Advanced students may arrange Directed Individual Study (DIS) and Honors Thesis projects ("Honors in the major") with individual faculty members by contacting them directly.
