Title: Boundaries of Groups with Non-positive Curvature
Date: Monday, March 7, 2022
Place and Time: Zoom, 3:05pm
Abstract.
When a group G acts properly by isometries on a metric space X, we can often compactify X with a "boundary at infinity." If X is non-positively curved, the topology of this boundary can provide information about the group G. In this talk we will introduce groups and spaces of non-positive curvature. We will discuss boundaries of these groups, the classification of 1-dimensional boundaries, and a problem of Kim Ruane.
