Tenure-track Position in Mathematical Data Science
The Department of Mathematics at Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in mathematical data science, broadly construed, beginning in August 2023. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related discipline and postdoctoral experience in applied mathematics. The ideal candidate will have experience working in research areas that complement the research interests of the data science group in the Mathematics Department. These include theory and applications of machine learning, deep learning approaches to partial differential equations, optimization, geometrical and topological data analysis, uncertainty quantification and stochastic computing.
The Mathematics Department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in applied and computational mathematics, as well as degrees in several other areas of mathematics. Currently, there are 16 applied and computational mathematics faculty members (core and affiliated) with 39 graduate students. Many faculty members and students in the department’s other core areas of pure mathematics, biomathematics, and financial mathematics are interested in data science and our department encourages cross-disciplinary collaborations.
