September 18, 2024 meeting of the Department of Mathematics Absent: Agashe (sabbatical), Aluffi (sabbatical), Ballas (faculty senate conflict), Cogan, Fahim (faculty senate conflict), Farhat (leave), Lee, Paris (actuarial fair conflict) Aldrovandi welcomed our new faculty member, Ali Kara, and presented department news. The news included details on salary increases, future hiring, open positions in the postdoctoral program, some information on post tenure review, and proposed changes to the department bylaws. Kercheval presented further on the bylaw changes which involve splitting the Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies role into two pieces. Okten called for volunteers to restart the High School Math Competition. Sussman was re-elected as parliamentarian. Van Hoeij and Bao were elected to the executive committee. Submitted by R. Oberlin
