Speaker: Nick Cogan Abstract. It is becoming more evident that bacteria outside of the lab setting tend to live is structured communites termed biofilms. This mode of existence is charactarized by aggragates of bacteria enmeshed in a self-produced polymer matrix and imposes constraints on the how the bacteria move, reproduce and react to disinfection external fluid flow. This talk will review the analysis of a sequence of models that explore the impact of these constraints on the bacterial dynamics. |
