Abstract. It is becoming more evident that bacteria outside of the lab setting tend to live is structured communites termed biofilms. This mode of existence is charactarized by aggragates of bacteria enmeshed in a self-produced polymer matrix and imposes constraints on the how the bacteria move, reproduce and react to disinfection external fluid flow. This talk will review the analysis of a sequence of models that explore the impact of these constraints on the bacterial dynamics.
