Abstract. The classical Lefschetz trace is generalized to the Reidemeister trace which contains information about the Nielsen number and the twisted conjugacy classes associated to a selfmap of a manifold. In this talk, I will discuss the connection between the LNR-theory and Bass' conjectures and the relationship between the Bieri-Neumann-Strebel invariants and twisted conjugacy classes.
