Abstract. We consider constant mean curvature hypersurfaces with time-like signature in Minkowski space from the point of view of their Cauchy problem. We discuss the asymptotic geometric structure of three special solutions: Minkowski hyperplane, the catenoidal static solution, and de Sitter space. We expose how the asymptotic geometry influences the global nonlinear stability of these solutions under small initial data perturbations.
