Nanotechnology Research

Nanomaterials and the nanotechnology developed to fabricate the materials are creating a revolution in the world of material manufacturing and alteration. Small amount of nanosized additives in conventional materials can alter the property of the composite significantly.  For example, the material reinforced with carbon nanotubes can have much improved thermal, electrical, mechanical properties up to several hundreds percent. Nanocomposites of polymers and nanoclay particles are posed to replace metals on future space shuttle missions. Our research on this timely area focuses on the development of robust simulation tools and faithful multiscale  models.
